Fig Liqueur

Syrup of Figs is known to be good for your digestion so I can’t see why this liqueur wouldn’t have the same health giving properties!!

Ingredients:

  • 700ml Vodka
  • 250g Fresh Figs
  • 200g Granulated sugar
  • 1 Vanilla Pod
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick

Slow Method:

  1. Rinse the Figs, cut in quarters, and add to a 1l Kilner Jar.
  2. Add the vanilla seeds, cinnamon stick, sugar and Vodka.
  3. Put into a cool dark place and leave for 3 weeks.
  4. Shake the jar every day until the sugar has dissolved
  5. Strain into a clean bottle and test for taste. Add extra sugar if needed.
  6. Enjoy your Fig Liqueur

Fast Method:

  1. Rinse the Figs, cut in quarters, and add to a 1l Kilner Jar.

  3. Put into a water bath at 65°C for 3 hours.
  4. Strain into a clean bottle and test for taste. Add extra sugar if needed.
  5. Enjoy your Fig Liqueur

Mark’s Top Tip: Try substituting the Vodka for Gin, Rum, or Brandy. The strained figs would make a wonderful boozy sticky toffee pudding or rich fruit cake.
