Syrup of Figs is known to be good for your digestion so I can’t see why this liqueur wouldn’t have the same health giving properties!!
Ingredients:
- 700ml Vodka
- 250g Fresh Figs
- 200g Granulated sugar
- 1 Vanilla Pod
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
Slow Method:
- Rinse the Figs, cut in quarters, and add to a 1l Kilner Jar.
- Add the vanilla seeds, cinnamon stick, sugar and Vodka.
- Put into a cool dark place and leave for 3 weeks.
- Shake the jar every day until the sugar has dissolved
- Strain into a clean bottle and test for taste. Add extra sugar if needed.
- Enjoy your Fig Liqueur
Fast Method:
- Rinse the Figs, cut in quarters, and add to a 1l Kilner Jar.
- Add the vanilla seeds, cinnamon stick, sugar and Vodka.
- Put into a water bath at 65°C for 3 hours.
- Strain into a clean bottle and test for taste. Add extra sugar if needed.
- Enjoy your Fig Liqueur
Mark’s Top Tip: Try substituting the Vodka for Gin, Rum, or Brandy. The strained figs would make a wonderful boozy sticky toffee pudding or rich fruit cake.
