Do you find you don’t always eat all of the oranges in the large bag from the supermarket? Don’t dispair, we have the solution!
Ingredients:
- 700ml Brandy
- 3-4 sweet Oranges
- 200g Granulated sugar
- 350ml water
Slow Method:
- Wash the oranges and slice them into 4 to 6 pieces and add to a 1l Kilner Jar.
- Add the Brandy
- Put into a cool dark place and leave for 2 weeks.
- Shake the jar every day until the sugar has dissolved
- Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan and heat gently, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Let syrup cool.
- Once the syrup is cool, combine it with the orange mixture
- Strain into a clean bottle and test for taste. Add extra sugar if needed.
- Enjoy your Orange LIqueur
Fast Method:
- Wash the oranges and slice them into 4 to 6 pieces and add to a 1l Kilner Jar.
- Add the sugar and Brandy.
- Put into a water bath at 65°C for 3 hours.
- Strain into a clean bottle and test for taste. Add extra sugar if needed.
- Enjoy your Orange LIqueur
Mark’s Top Tip: Try substituting the Brandy for Gin, Rum, or Vodka. For a spicier alternative, try adding a couple of cloves or a cinnamon stick to the mixture.
