Orange Liqueur

Do you find you don’t always eat all of the oranges in the large bag from the supermarket? Don’t dispair, we have the solution!

Ingredients:

  • 700ml Brandy
  • 3-4 sweet Oranges
  • 200g Granulated sugar
  • 350ml water

Slow Method:

  1. Wash the oranges and slice them into 4 to 6 pieces and add to a 1l Kilner Jar.
  2. Add the Brandy
  3. Put into a cool dark place and leave for 2 weeks.
  4. Shake the jar every day until the sugar has dissolved
  5. Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan and heat gently, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Let syrup cool.
  6. Once the syrup is cool, combine it with the orange mixture
  7. Strain into a clean bottle and test for taste. Add extra sugar if needed.
  8. Enjoy your Orange LIqueur

Fast Method:

  1. Wash the oranges and slice them into 4 to 6 pieces and add to a 1l Kilner Jar.
  2. Add the sugar and Brandy.
  3. Put into a water bath at 65°C for 3 hours.
  4. Strain into a clean bottle and test for taste. Add extra sugar if needed.
  5. Enjoy your Orange LIqueur

Mark’s Top Tip: Try substituting the Brandy for Gin, Rum, or Vodka. For a spicier alternative, try adding a couple of cloves or a cinnamon stick to the mixture.
