Redcurrants are usually made into a jelly to add to your roast dinner but with a few easy steps you can make them into a delicious drink, to have with your roast dinner!
Ingredients:
- 700ml Gin
- 300g Redcurrants
- 200g Granulated sugar
Slow Method:
- Rinse and crush the Redcurrants and add to a 1l Kilner Jar.
- Add the sugar and Gin.
- Put into a cool dark place and leave for 3 weeks.
- Shake the jar every day until the sugar has dissolved
- Strain into a clean bottle and test for taste. Add extra sugar if needed.
- Enjoy your Redcurrant Liqueur
Fast Method:
- Rinse and crush the Redcurrants and add to a 1l Kilner Jar.
- Add the sugar and Gin.
- Put into a water bath at 65°C for 3 hours.
- Strain into a clean bottle and test for taste. Add extra sugar if needed.
- Enjoy your Redcurrant Liqueur
Mark’s Top Tip: Try substituting the Gin for Vodka, Rum, or Brandy. Once strained, they are still edible and taste great when served with ice cream.
