Strawberries can be found nowadays at any time of the year but the absolute best are those which are picked in season and grown in the UK.
Ingredients:
- 700ml Vodka
- 500g Strawberries
- 200g Granulated sugar
Slow Method:
- Rinse the strawberries, cut in half, and add to a 1l Kilner Jar.
- Add the sugar and Vodka.
- Put into a cool dark place and leave for 3 weeks.
- Shake the jar every day until the sugar has dissolved.
- Strain into a clean bottle and test for taste. Add extra sugar if needed.
- Enjoy your Strawberry Vodka
Fast Method:
- Rinse the strawberries, cut in half, and add to a 1l Kilner Jar.
- Add the sugar and Vodka.
- Put into a water bath at 65°C for 3 hours.
- Strain into a clean bottle and test for taste. Add extra sugar if needed.
- Enjoy your Strawberry Vodka
Mark’s Top Tip: Try substituting the Vodka for Gin, Rum, or Brandy. The colour will leach out of the strawberries turning them a light shade of pink, they are still edible and taste great when served with ice cream.
